Welcome Dr. Bethany Johns, new Assistant Director of Federal Relations

We are very pleased to share that we have hired a new Assistant Director of Federal Relations, filling the position formerly held by Jake Dowd who is now Director of Federal Relations. Please join us in offering a very warm welcome to Dr. Bethany Johns, who is joining the EAGR team effective today.

She will work in our DC office and support strategic efforts to elevate WSU’s federal legislative priorities and represent the University to members of Congress, the Administration, federal agencies, and higher education organizations. Bethany previously served as Deputy Director of Public Policy and Interim Acting Director at the American Astronomical Society and has held leadership positions at APLU and the American Institute of Physics. She has a bachelor’s degree in physics from Kenyon College in Ohio, and a Ph.D. in physics from Clemson University.

Bethany and Jake are supported by policy coordinator Geordy Bryant Greene, who has been a fantastic addition to our small but mighty team and has moved home to Washington state to be our boots on the ground for WSU’s office of external affairs and government relations office of federal relations.

We all look forward to continuing to work with your offices on behalf of our students, faculty, staff, and communities across the state.

Welcome, Bethany and Go Cougs!
