WSU Student Regent Kassandra Vogel, appearing at a confirmation hearing before the Senate Higher Education & Workforce Development Committee this morning, told lawmakers that enrolling at the university was a life changing experience.
Vogel began her WSU career as a running start student at WSU Vancouver, eventually attaining her undergraduate degrees in English and Economics from WSU Pullman in 2024. She is currently pursuing her Master of Applied Economics and was nominated by former Governor Inslee to fill the student regent position which is designated to provide a student perspective on the WSU Board of Regents.
Vogel shared her experiences representing students on the Board and finding her way to WSU Pullman. “Visiting WSU changed my life,” she said, before reflecting on her formative journey within student government. “Since becoming a student at WSU I have had so many opportunities that changed the trajectory of my life.”
Vogel spoke to her work to raise awareness of what the Board and her role entail along with disseminating information and topics from the Board of Regents to the student government council, which represents student governments across the WSU system.
