Legislature adjourns 2014 session

The state Legislature approved a supplemental budget and adjourned its 2014 session Thursday night, finishing its work in the regularly allotted 60 days.

Both the House and the Senate passed the conference supplemental operating budget on strong, bi-partisan votes. The House passed the budget with a vote of 85-13 and the Senate with a vote of 48-1. The budget funded WSU’s top legislative priority for $750,000 in state matching funds for the university’s designation by the FAA as a Center of Excellence in Jet Fuels and the Environment.

The Legislature did not approve a supplemental capital budget this session. WSU was seeking design funding to support the establishment of a new facility for the Washington Animal Disease and Diagnostic Laboratory.
