Governor plugs INEF during State of the State Address.

Gov. Jay Inslee in his State of the State address before a joint session of the Legislature Tuesday told lawmakers he’s counting on them to fund his proposed Institute for Northwest Energy Futures at WSU Tri-Cities.

“It was fantastic to join Senators Joe Nguyen and Matt Boehnke in Tri-Cities last month to talk about the potential for a new Institute for Northwest Energy Futures at Washington State University,” the governor said. “This institute will put the region at the global forefront of clean tech innovation.”

The governor announced his plan to pursue the research center at WSU Tri-Cities in December and then provided $7.7 million in his biennial budget proposal to fund it.

The Institute would address the increasing demand for clean energy by providing objective research and analysis that takes a systems approach to integrate new technologies with old.
