Regent Marroquin confirmed by Senate

Isaac Marroquin was confirmed today as the Student Regent for Washington State University, following a unanimous vote from the state Senate.

Marroquin is pursuing a master’s degree in education at WSU, having graduated with his bachelor’s degree in English from the WSU Tri-Cities campus in the spring of 2023. There, he was elected and served as president of the Associated Students of Washington State University Tri-Cities (ASWSUTC). Marroquin has a long involvement with ASWSUTC, beginning as a student senator and later as vice president before becoming president. He continues to collaborate closely with the WSU student leadership in his new role.

Marroquin was selected by Washington Gov. Jay Inslee last summer to succeed former Student Regent Reanne Chilton in the one-year term that expires in June. The student regent represents all WSU students on the university’s governing board, providing a valuable perspective.
