Regent Picha’s re-appointment confirmed by Senate

Douglas Picha’s re-appointment to the Washington State University Board of Regents was unanimously confirmed by the state Senate today.

Senator Drew Hansen rose to speak on Picha’s behalf, noting he is a “proud Cougar graduate” and went on to highlight his service to the community, decades of work as president of the Seattle Children’s Foundation along with Picha’s efforts working with the College Success Foundation.

Picha joined the WSU Board of Regents in January, taking over the remaining portion of former Regent Ron Sims’ term. He brought a wealth of philanthropic experience from his decades as president of the Seattle Children’s Foundation. Picha graduated from WSU in 1975, with much of his time as a student dedicated to participating on student and campus-wide committees. He was honored with the WSU Alumni Achievement Award in 2002. Picha grew up in Puyallup as part of a family with a rich farming history.
