Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers attended the Wyoming football game in Pullman on November 30th where she presented WSU President Kirk Schulz with a Congressional Record of her speech honoring his retirement.
When a member of Congress presents something for inclusion in the Congressional Record, it means they are submitting an official statement, document, or remark to be recorded as part of the proceedings. These submissions are significant because they become part of the permanent record of Congress. This can take several forms, including floor speeches, extension of remarks, documents or petitions, legislative proposals, and tributes or recognitions. The Congresswoman’s recognition of President Schulz was to honor his work as WSU’s President, the collaboration between WSU and her office, and to ensure that President Schulz’s work will be forever remembered in the Congressional Record.
“Throughout his tenure, Washington State University also expanded educational and research facilities across the WSU system, including the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s new Plant Sciences Building, Schweitzer Engineering Hall, and a major health sciences remodel on the Spokane campus. He has been instrumental in overseeing the growth of WSU scholarships and research expenditures, enhancing the infrastructure supporting student safety, improving the delivery of healthcare programs across the state, and rebuilding the renowned Pac-12 athletics conference.”
