Legislature approves final budget, adjourns

The state House and Senate approved a supplemental operating budget that contained no general cuts to higher education this morning and adjourned for the year.

They also approved a construction budget that will allow for the completion of the Biomedical and Health Sciences Building in Spokane while also providing $1.8 million for engineering laboratory equipment in Pullman, Bremerton and Everett.

The operating budget includes provisions for an increase in engineering enrollments at WSU.

Unable to complete its work on the last day of a first special session Tuesday, the Legislature adjourned and immediately convened a second special session after midnight this morning. It took a few hours for lawmakers to finish their work and they adjourned for good at 7:30.
