Hurricane Sandy Closes Federal Government

Hurricane Sandy is rolling into the mid-Atlantic as we type. In preparation for the storm, the DC and Federal Governments and just about all local schools and Universities were closed today and likely will be closed tomorrow.  Despite the storm and closures, Washington State University Federal Relations staff are still available. Due to the storm and the election on Tuesday November 6, this week will be somewhat quiet for Capitol Hill and across the federal government. However, the DC Federal Relations office is busy preparing for Congress to return to DC for the lame duck session beginning on November 13, 2012 when they return to address sequestration, the expiring tax provisions and reauthorizing the Farm Bill.   We anticipate that the six weeks before the end of the year will be very busy in DC.

Please do not hesitate to contact Glynda Becker, Director for Federal Relations at glynda.becker@wsu.edu (202-340-5844) or Mariah Luft, Assistant Director for Federal Relations at mariah.luft@wsu.edu with any questions or concerns that you might have.
