WSU President Elson Floyd has named outgoing state Sen. Lisa Brown as the university’s next chancellor at its Spokane campus.

Brown is wrapping up a 20-year-long career in the Legislature, having served as Senate majority leader since 2005. She did not seek re-election this year in Spokane’s 3rd District, where she was first elected to the state House of Representatives in 1992.
