Former Secretary of State Sam Reed was honored with the Washington State University Alumni Achievement Award at the “Sam Reed Roast and Toast” on Jan. 10 in Seattle.

After a 35 year career of trademark centrism, Reed was recognized for his outstanding accomplishment and leadership in elected office. The WSU News Center has the story here.

Reed earned his bachelor’s degree in social studies and a master’s degree in political science from WSU. In honor of his distinguished record in public service, the WSU College of Arts and Sciences established an endowment to fund the Sam Reed Distinguished Professorship in Civic Education and Public Civility.
