Washington State University and the 2013 Inauguration

The past week has been a whirlwind here in Washington DC with the 2013 inauguration activities.  The town was abuzz as hundreds of thousands of people from all over the world descended upon the city, at times bringing traffic to a stop.  The Washington State University (WSU) Federal Relations Office had the opportunity to host WSU Spokane Chancellor Lisa Brown, and WSU Vancouver Chancellor Mel Netzhammer.   They were in town representing the university after receiving inauguration invitations from Washington State Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers, from the 5th District and Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler, from the 3rd District.

During the course of their visit, both chancellors had the opportunity to meet with Members of Congress, key staff and business partners during one on one meetings and multiple inauguration events including a Washington State Society reception.  The focus of these meetings was to introduce the universities’ newest chancellors.  The variety of meetings and events provided an opportunity to highlight important initiatives on the Riverpoint and Vancouver campuses, including health sciences and technology.
