The week of June 17 in Washington DC

Focus this week is shifting to the House.  Members of the House will be busy on the floor considering a five-year $939 billion farm bill (H.R.1947), including a large list of amendments that were submitted yesterday.  The White House has already released a statement that the President would veto the House version of farm bill if it includes language outlining $20 billion in cuts and reforms to the SNAP program.  In addition, today the House Judiciary Committee will also be marking up a bipartisan immigration bill.

The Senate convened yesterday and will continue consideration of the Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act (S.744) introduced by the “gang of eight”.  Senators will be on the floor this week debating multiple amendments within the bill, including permanent resident status after border completion, citizenship for internationally adopted children and the US-VISIT system.

Below you will find a list of the meetings scheduled for this week.  If you have questions, concerns or would like additional information on these hearings, please do not hesitate to contact our office at (202) 772-5561.
