Legislature sends compromise budget to governor

Both chambers of the Legislature approved a compromise operating budget proposal unveiled late last night, sending it to Gov. Jay Inslee’s desk for signature.

The Senate approved Third Engrossed Substitute Senate Bill 5034 on a 44-4 vote. The House approved it this evening 81-11.

The compromise budget makes significant investments in higher education while also freezing tuition. You can find our previous coverage of the budget here.

Inslee is expected to sign the budget no later than Sunday. Monday marks the beginning of a new two-year budget cycle.
