Times: Tuition freeze, funding increase please higher-education leaders

The Seattle Times Friday published an article outlining the positive feedback from Washington’s leaders in higher education regarding the state’s compromise operating budget.

For the 2013-2015 biennium, the Legislature has committed to holding tuition at its current rate while significantly increasing funding for colleges and universities to maintain the high quality of a Washington state degree.

“The Washington State Legislature has turned an important corner toward re-investing in higher education,” said WSU President Elson Floyd, in a statement. “By far, the most encouraging part is the recognition that we cannot continue to fund higher education on the backs of our students.”
