State revenue collections jump

State tax collections for the past month exceeded expectations by $72.6 million according to a new report issued Monday. You can find it here. And you can find the Olympian’s coverage here.

The report notes that the expected $22.5 million refund tempers that uptick somewhat. But had it been made during the July 11 through Aug. 10 period as expected, revenues still would have exceeded expectations by 4.3 percent.

The state’s Economic and Revenue Forecast Council is scheduled to release another quarterly revenue forecast until Sept. 18. The one it issues on Nov. 20 will be used by the governor to develop his proposed update of the two year budget approved by the Legislature in June.
