Farm Bill Signed

On Friday, President Barack Obama signed the Agriculture Act of 2014 into law.  The $956.4 billion package, is better know as the Farm Bill.  The five-year legislation includes funding for programs across Washington State University (WSU) campuses and extension sites, including specialty crops, biofuels and broadband infrastructure.    The bill passed a final hurdle when the Senate approved the measure last Tuesday with bipartisan support by a vote of 68-32.

In other WSU related news, President Elson S. Floyd was in town last week for a series of meeting with members of the Washington State delegation.  The focus of these meetings was to highlight our health sciences program and the build out of strong partnerships throughout Washington State.   President Floyd also thanked the delegation for their continued support of WSU.

This week, we are preparing for several campus visitors.  We will be hosting representatives from the College of Engineering and Architecture and the College of Natural, Human and Natural Resource Sciences.
